Alexander Reeds DC Alto Saxophone ReedsSuperial "D.C." ReedsTonal Concept of the Past"DC" has a slightly harder tip and more wood in the heart and sides than Superial and this produces characteristics of a darker, more powerful, more solid tone core, but an enhanced feeling of aliveness, a singing but deep resonance. Made from the finest of wild grown Var cane, each and every reed table is checked under light for flatness and hand adjusted if necessary.

These reeds are a really good. The only con I have with it is the effects of humidity and I also have to prep the reeds everytime I have to play. Thank you Alexander Reed Co, and thank you WWBW for supplying me the reeds. Go Alexander!
These are good reeds - I've been playing professionally for 20 years and have tried a lot of reeds. I find these give the right amount of resistance and a warm, full tone. They are sometimes hard to find however, so this point can be a bit frustrating. Hopefully Woodwind/Brasswind will keep them in constant stock.
I play in a very "in demand" Big Band Swing band and have used Alexander DC's exclusively for several years. They have a great resonance giving me the sound I want on my Yanigasawa Alto with a Meyer 5 mouthpiece. The DC's are a little softer than other reeds so you may want to go up a half step. However, I find that they are very responsive and allow bends very easily. They also have excellent longevity.
I've been using the Alexander DC reeds exclusively for about 4 years for college jazz band and various rock/chamber/blues/new music projects. I play a Keilweith shadow alto with a metal Beechler 6 mouthpiece.
Once I discovered these reeds I was done with every other jazz reed. They give me a great loud and full sound that works well for jazz, and have also served for various genres that I dabble in. These reeds are very easy to break-in, and come with instructions that you should follow! The success rate for a box of reeds is great- occassionally one reed out of the tin will underperform. They also last a long time, even in Florida humidity. I suggest looking up a reed conversion chart online to get the correct strength.
I felt that I should write a supportive review so that people keep buying these reeds- if they leave the market I'm not sure what I'll do!
