The ACL 311 clarinet by far surpasses (others in) this price category in sound, looks, feeling, and craftsmanship. You could compare this clarinet with much more expensive clarinets on the market. Due to fact, that, instrument is made in the OLDIEST European, music instrument factory, means something furthermore, in Bohemian Country- Boehm style of playing! Mouthpiece included with instrument isn?t good so find a suitable one for you, as for every wind instrument. Try one, and you will be stunned as I am, because I didn?t expect, so much. Currently I have many clarinets, from, so called, Big Names, Buffet, Selmer, Yamaha, Leblanc. Many of them were PRODUCED, in Czech Republic, by AMATI!!
In few words, I could say that, this clarinet is (worth) far beyond it?s? price tag in every sense. Comparing with my Selmer, and Leblanc, this was disappointing for me; how much money I spend on some "so called brand name". WRONG! You should try AMATI, as a measure for comparison with the others. Try it, you won?t believe it yourself. No wonder, this firm has made clarinets for centuries, and as well for some others BRANDS, without AMATI logo, and then in factory of destinations, they stamp their logo!!!
I play on this clarinet right now. It got me through high school. I bought it at the time when I did not know I would be majoring in music in college. It's almost 5 years old and still plays very well, but it doesn't get the sound that the professional clarinets get. For anyone that just wants a wooden clarinet and is not going to major in music in college or get that serious, it's a good clarinet for them. The sound is pretty decent and it's cheaper then other wooden clarinets, so for the money you're getting a pretty good clarinet. ?if you do buy this clarinet though, I would suggest getting a different mouthpiece and looking at tuning rings or a different barrel as well. The barrel on this clarinet (that I got 5 years ago) is a little short, which caused me to go get a tuning ring for it.
