Amati has a long-standing
tradition of fine instrument makers that dates back to the 18th century
in the city of Kraslice, in the Czech Republic. Over the years, many
individual instrument factories consolidated and in September of 1945, a
cooperative of manufacturers was established and given the name
"Amati". In 1948, all instrument production was nationalized, and the
city of Kraslice gradually became a center of wind instrument
production.
