Bari Synthetic Baritone Saxophone ReedBari is the top-of-the-line brand for synthetic reeds. Synthetic reeds will usually last several times longer than traditional reeds. They can still be chipped or cracked, but they will not wear out like traditional cane. The reeds are formatted to sound as similar to cane reeds as possible, but there is a slight difference.

If you should succumb to the "dark side" of reeds (and I mean evil not dark in sound) then Bari's are a decent choice. What I mean by Dark Side is the fact that these reeds need no wetness and last seemingly forever. You need not to fuss with or warm up reeds any longer and will have greater power than you would with conventional cane. You can take an indefinite set break or just leave the reed on the mouthpiece in the case and just pick her up and play, like I said no more warming up or wetting. No more shaving, clipping, soaking, or temperature/humidity changes!! But there is always a catch, these reeds are bright as hell and lose a certain finesse/texture to the sound that you get with cane. Slight loss of overtones, to gain power, endurance, and convenience. So what will it be, Dark Side? or Light Side?
I bought this reed because baritone is not my main instrument so I just put it on and play when I need to. I can move around using the same reed and always get the same tone and response that I need. I would buy this over any $10-$15 synthetic reed.
Having used successfully the Bari Star, I tried the Bari. It has all the features I like with the Bari Star. Although I love the Bari Star, this is like adding an AFTERBURNER to your Bari!!
Absolutely great, I ordered a hard from WWBW, expecting a good consistent piece of plastic for marching band, but as soon as I put it on my ol' stocker marching band mouthpiece, my Bari came alive! It turned from sad no thrills bass line to growlin', screamin', tongue slapin' Bari goodness but when I slipped it on my vintage Brilhart tonalin piece with my school's old Conn, by gosh sake I was Gerry mulligan!
I play bari in my high school and all my friends told me that I would like a plastic reed, so I got a bari star and I love it. The reed is really good for jazz or big band charts it gives you more volume and a brighter tone I would recommend trying it at the very least
