Comments about Besson BE950 Sovereign Series Eb Tenor Horn:
Imagine a french horn sound with the ease of playability of a cornet, and you have this Alto horn. I did not have a chance to play the Prestige model. But from what I can tell they only perfected perfection by the pics. The silver finish and fit are like a piece of fine jewelery. Reminded me of the quality of Schilke trumpets. The valves, and slides are perfect fit with high tolerance in compression. You will have to break in the valves on this one. Oil every day, and wipe out the casings. The sound and intonation are wonderful, and it feels smooth and just the right weight. Playing fast staccato on this horn is very satisfying. Love this horn. To bad it is mainly used in British bands. They have all the fun! But why should we not play them for solo and churches.
