What a change from E11! No wonder Buffet is the legendary choice of professionals. Fluid response and colorful sound are just the two best features of this instrument. Silver keys look pretty sweet too - it really boosts my confidence.
I worked all summer one year just to buy this instrument and i wasn't disappointed when I got it. It made my old clarinet sound like a child?s toy. It has a real nice sound and projects the sound out into the room really good. It plays well in all the registers. Since I have gotten it, my friends and even the older musicians I play with in the area have all stated how they love the sound I get with my clarinet. I will never switch to another clarinet. You won't be disappointed with this instrument.
This clarinet is the best one I have played in my years of experience! The keys fit well under your fingers the moment you grip the instrument, and the adjustable thumb rest really helps with that! The action of the keys is pretty much silent (no clicking, scraping noises). Also, the tone of the instrument is wonderful.
I attend an arts high school for jazz and I love this clarinet, I have had this piece for 3 years. The only thing I recommend changing is the ligature. I use a Rovner Jazz ligature which increases the response of the horn dramatically. To keep it looking and playing well, I recommend rubbing it with lemon oil twice a year, trust me it sounds crazy, but it works. I haven't had any problems with it yet.
I have been using and R-13 for as long as I can remember. Since the first time i have played it, I immediately noticed a huge change in my intonation, ease of play, and tone, as compared to a student clarinet. The R-13 makes you sound like a professional, even if you aren't one. Also, the price of the R-13 is worth every penny. Compared to one of the more expensive models of the R-13 like the Prestige R-13, it is a bargain. I highly recommend this to the serious clarinet player if they want to sound like one of the very best clarinetists out there. And lastly, the R-13 gives you the sound and projection that you would normally get with that one coveted reed. I hope this helps!
