Clark W Fobes CWF Clarinet MouthpieceThe CWF mouthpiece uses the popular Zinner "A" blank. The CWF facing is a copy of the facing that was used with great success for the past 12 years in professional playing with the San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Ballet. The close, asymmetrical facing provides excellent response and control, without loss of projection or power. The deeper baffle of the CWF mouthpiece creates a warm yet vibrant sound reminiscent of the Chicago Kaspar mouthpiece. As with all Clark W Fobes mouthpieces, the CWF bore is hand reamed to specifications that ideally match the facing and baffle for optimal intonation and sound.

The first thing you'll notice about this mouthpiece is the prominant CWF on the front of the mouthpiece. As I was watching the San Francisco Symphony on our local PBS station, it was obvious what mouthpiece the principal clarinetist was using. He had a great sound so I decicded to try the mouthpiece for myself. It claims to great response, control and projection. I find all of those qualities in the CWF. I believe that the baffle placement is the soul of the mouthpiece. This baffle placement couldn't be better. Coupled with the Zinner blank, the CWF is a true homage to the great masters of mouthpiece making.
I ordered several mouthpieces on approval from WWBW, including 2 Clarke Fobes mouthpieces and two other high end mouthpieces. All of the mouthpieces were good, but the CWF is just phenomenal! It has a great sound, responds well and intonation is dead-on!
I played it at rehearsal tonight and it blended beautifully with the section! The sound is crisp and clear, nice overtones, full sound.
Using it with a 3 1/2 V12, but it could use something a little stiffer.
The Fobes CWF mouthpiece will bring your sound to life! Intonation is marvelous, it is VERY comfortable to play, ppp-to-fff from bottom to top! The sound has a sweet and dark ring to it that will spoil the player. This piece will make other mouthpieces into doorstops, trust me - I now have a drawer full of some very expensive pieces ($450 down to $240) that I will never think about again. The only other mouthpiece I use is another Fobes - a San Fransisco CF+. Match these pieces with Rue LaPec 56 3.5 or Gonzalez FOF 3-1/4. You'll thank me for it!
