Owned one for a LONG time. From High School through professional career, this horn served me well. The best and quietest trigger mechanics of ANY horn on the market that I have seen. Excellent tone. Plays better than a custom Getzen/Edwards open wrap horn that I owned briefly, then promptly sold that Getzen to a guy in Japan. As good or better than the Bach 42BO that I owned as well. An extremely underrated horn
Years ago I played a prototype "TR150A" that a great sound and great response, but a couple of notes that just didn't speak, like high Ab. The TR158 evolved from the prototype and has the response and sound without the bad notes. The valve doesn't have the short throw, but blows freely. The nine inch rose bell will not break up at loud volumes. I would rate this horn better than any Bach 42B I've ever played, but it seems that nobody's ever heard of it!
