Jody Jazz DV Tenor Saxophone MouthpieceIn the Jody Jazz DV Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece, nature, science and imagination are combined to create a revolutionary mouthpiece. The DV produces a bigger, fatter sound that is achieved effortlessly and better intonation and response. The main goal with this mouthpiece was to create the most efficient mouthpiece possible. That means that there are a huge amount of harmonics present in the sound and therefore the projection of the mouthpiece is huge. Another goal was to eliminate the annoying shrillness that is associated with loud bright mouthpieces. JodyJazz is using a new proprietary CNC facing technology that puts the perfect facing curve on the mouthpiece, which results in absolutely no dead spots in the vibration of the reed. In other words all notes in all ranges respond equally. It has a husky barrel-chested tone while being able to sing and soar over the top of any band. Sub toning and low notes are extremely easy and the altissimo is out of this world. Intonation is spot on. Be prepared to have possibly the most fun you ever have had on the saxophone.

This piece is without a doubt the best I have ever played. I have tried Dukoff's, Vandoren Jumbo Java's, a Vandoren T75 metal, and a Ponzol M2+ - none of them can come near the sound of this thing. This piece has an incredible amount of color to the sound, and is amazingly responsive. The more I play on it the better it gets. Up to this point I haven't been able to really find my voice on tenor, and this piece did it for me. I am still a little sick about the price, but if you're serious about your sound, this piece deserves a try.
I've played on a Dukoff 6* with Rico Royal size 2.5 to 3 reeds for a very long time. I bought the Dukoff in the 80s preferring its brighter sound over the Berg Larsen back then. But, the altissimo is a bit wild and I have had trouble with the low notes. I do like the Jody Jazz DV mouthpiece a lot more. I find that for me, the La Voz reeds work the best with this mpc. I am currently using a 7 with a La Voz medium because together, I get the resistance that I like along with the response. The altissimo is much easier for me as are the low notes. The ligature that comes with it is good. But I do prefer the Rovner EV0-5, as it helps me to make a brighter sound. I wish this mpc was around years ago!
This is an extremely fine piece that I had the chance to try. intonation was very nice throughout the entire register, altissimo came very smooth, and the projection was very full and bright. I thought the sound was a little to bright for my taste, it just doesn't have the big, voluptuous, dark sound that you get with a vintage rubber piece. Overall this is a mouthpiece well worth its money if you are looking for that kind of sound.
This is the easiest to play, best sounding tenor mouthpiece I have ever played. I have tried at least a dozen metal mouthpieces over the past year to try to find my sound and something I was comfortable playing for several hours a day when necessary. After 2 hours on the JodyJazz DV, I permanently switched. The altissimo notes are effortless and the low notes come booming out on my Keilwerth SX90R. There is extreme consistency in sound and ease of play from low to high and the intonation is superb. It is very bright but without any shrillness or harshness. It even has a good sound for ballads. The harmonics are amazing. It is also easy to play very softly or it will let you cut through the guitars. If you try one, you will have a new favorite. After playin it for two weeks, I ordered an alto JodyJazz DV.
Wow what a mouthpiece!!!! I have played several mouthpieces, Sugal, Selmer Metal 7*, Vandoren, Meyer, Dukoff, but none have the sound or perfection that the Jody Jazz DV 7* had... My tone immediatley became full, rich and every note spoke through the Selmer Mark 6 that I play... I like it so much I am ordering one for my alto now!!!
