In the 1980s Leonard Marshall was working as an electrical engineer when he was introduced to Mogami audio and visual cables. These Japanese cables produced a clean, reliable sound unlike anything else that Marshall had encountered. He started Marshall Electronics and developed a line of microphones incorporating these cables which soon became industry standard. Today, Marshall Electronics are still the only distributor of Mogami cables in the northern hemisphere.

There are over 50 models of MXL microphones covering a full range of needs - from video conferencing, field recording, or studio use. Many of the microphones are also USB compatible to easily link them up for editing and post-production. The Studio 24 USB is one such popular model with HD quality. The Genesis II is an update on MXL's flagship microphone. This model adds features like a dual diaphragm capsule and the patented warm and bright switch to influence the microphone's tone. The V89 is a superb studio condenser which is designed to eliminate standing waves and reduce harmonic distortion.
