This music stand is easily 100 times sturdier than any other portables. It looks better performance wise than the others (it actually looks like a music stand). It is a bit heavier, but certainly isn't overbearing. Most other portable music stands can fall over from being breathed on too hard. This is the best music stand out there (at least in ones that fold up), and it fits into a reasonably sized carrying case. I would pay $100 for this stand. Luckily, it only costs $30.
I just got this stand, but so far it seems very sturdy and well-made; the set-up is smooth and fun. The desk is made of a thick, sturdy plastic. The fold hinges look a bit tacky to me, but it's cool that it folds up like that. I don't know if the rods for holding music would hold anything But thick music books because they just stick straight up on the front edge of the shelf, but maybe that's good...like I say, I just got it. I also like the bag and the extra space it has.
I bought this stand because of the portability. I used it for about 2 years and then it broke. I can still use it, but it no longer adjusts in height. I know several people with the same product and no one else has had a problem with theirs.
Got the stand a month ago and using it for many concerts in this summer season........this stand is THE BEST!! I have a collection of them, but, none compare to this stand. I recommend it most highly.
I have used this stand for a couple of months and have been completely pleased with it. I have waited until playing an outdoor Memorial Day concert to write my review. Winds strong enough to blow stands over are always a factor at these concerts. While the musicians using other brands of stands were constantly having to restrain them from tipping over, my stand with its extra-wide tripod base remained steady as the Rock of Gebralta throughout the concert. If there were a rating level higher than "5" I would give it to this product.
