I bought my Pearl Dolce (695 RBE) in January 2006. I've had it a couple of months now so I think I can give a pretty full review. Whey buying, I first looked at the Yamahas - I've never liked Yamahas and I played about 5 notes on them before deciding that they weren't for me - too chunky. I also tryed the Pearl Quantz 665 (not CODA, as not available in the UK!) I also tried a Trevor James Cantabile, which was equally as disappointing. I then looked at some better flutes: The Altus 801, Miyazawa PA 101 and the Pearl Dolce. The Pearl had the rounded sound that I was looking for and the top octave (a real problem with my old Pearl 501) sang out like a dream, with top A reaching pp easily. The middle octave was perfectly pure and the bottom octave was delicate, if a little too quiet. The case it comes in is stunning and, while I've had to have the flute ajusted after wearing it in, I haven't got any complaints. One thing I would say is that the mechanisms on Pearl flutes are often soft, and the posts sometimes need reajusting. I'm not too bothered as the pros definately outweigh the cons!
