The Performance Gear bass clarinet stand is everything I wanted in a stand. It's easily set up and reduced. I have found it very stable and yet not overly massive. I also bought their stand bag. With its carry strap and space for additional horn pegs it is the perfect accessory to the stand. I play a lot of pit work and this is the best product I have found.
This stand is ok, as long as you are extremely careful to set the cross piece, and don't mind the instrument wobbling quite a bit. The cross piece spins, and although it's stable if it's not knocked, it's one more thing to worry about. Also, when the vertical strut is extended to hold a BCL, it lacks the rigidity to hold the instrument firmly. My BCL has never fallen over, but it does wobble considerably, which can be disconcerting in fast instrument changes.
This stand has some challenges that limit its usefulness. It may be fine for an Alto Clarinet or a non low-C bass without a peg, but any sort of height is just too much for this setup. Additionally, the cross-piece on the bottom can accidentally spin causing the stand to fall over, and there's no way to tighten it.
