Comments about Prelude by Conn-Selmer AS711 Student Model Alto Saxophone:

Bought this for my daughter to start band with. I majored in music in college and am a saxophonist but have been out of it for so long I didn't even know Conn and Selmer had merged. I am very pleased with the instrument. Mechanism feels solid, intonation is consistent, and the horn has a very nice tone. I'll probably keep the horn even after we get her a step up.

Comments about Prelude by Conn-Selmer AS711 Student Model Alto Saxophone:

Bought this for my 11 year old who just starred band class. He absolutely loves it. He was using a loaner from the school and struggling to make quality sound but not anymore. Great starter horn for any kid.

      Great Sounding Horn!

Comments about Prelude by Conn-Selmer AS711 Student Model Alto Saxophone:

I bought this Saxophone for my son to replace his first horn that wasn't good quality at all. After playing for 25+ years, I was very happy with the way this horn sounds. Out of the box, I was pleased to see the great care that was taken in packaging. There was even cork placed in between rods and pads to prevent damage. The case itself looks great and my son called the yellow trim "really cool". The case even has built-in backpack straps that are attached and in a zippered pouch attached to the case. The horn has a nice overall weight and feel. Just holding it you can tell it is not a cheaply made instrument. I tried it out to make sure there were no leaks or problems. It has a really nice dark and warm tone. Keys moved nicely, and was very comfortable in my hands. Overall this is a really nice saxophone for students with a couple of years experience. I might even steal it from my son for the occasional gig!

Comments about Prelude by Conn-Selmer AS711 Student Model Alto Saxophone:

this was the first sax i bought, not knowing much about saxophones, it plays well enough for a student sax. put a really good mpc on it, more than $100.00. vandoren or selmer mpc or what ever, want even better sound... go with a metal mpc. it's well constructed, plays in tune, stays in tune. my only con is: it's made for smaller hands, the palm keys are a mile away from my palms, put riser's on them in that case.

Comments about Prelude by Conn-Selmer AS711 Student Model Alto Saxophone:

I am a sax teacher and I have had at least 2 different students purchase a Prelude. I have played the horn and highly recommend it to beginners. Both of my students have been pleased with the instrument, not having to get any repairs so far. The only downside is that Selmer-Conn has realized that they can charge a higher price.

      Great buy for a first-timer!

Comments about Prelude by Conn-Selmer AS711 Student Model Alto Saxophone:

I started band this year and the saxophone I got was a school saxophone and it was just terrible. It could barely hit a high C! But now, with my prelude, I can go from low Bb to a high F#! This was the perfect saxophone for a first timer and I plan to use it next year a maybe even in high school. And the saxophone works even better with the free olegature ligature that came with it!
