Great Mouthpiece !!!

Comments about Rico Metalite Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I ordered this mouthpiece about a week ago because the one I had somehow got lost over the years . I had the older version that had a matt finish with a very thick tip . It did play well though. The new version is a lot different , no thick tip, and no matt finish. I ordered the M9 ( .115" tip opening ) . This mouthpiece totally blew me away . I used a 2H Jazz Select reed and this mouthpiece play the low register big and full and the altissimo was great . If you haven't tried one of these newer melalites, it's worth the $25 it cost to give it a try . This mouthpiece plays circles around a lot of the $300 to $400 mouthpieces !

Powerful mouthpiece

Comments about Rico Metalite Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

Just received the M7 Tenor mouthpiece and tried it out. I'm in a bit different situation than most, as I play a 1916 Buescher C Melody sax. I purchased this mouthpiece on the recommendation that it would get rid of the "stuffy" C Melody sound, and would also likely help with intonation issues. After about 1 1/2 hours of playing, this appears to be quite the successful purchase. The sound is much, much brighter, not stuffy at all. Intonation seems better, but I will need more time with the mouthpiece to know for sure. I am using A BG leather ligature and a Fibrecell soft reed for the time being. May go to a medium soft reed later as I get used to the mouthpiece. At the price, you can't go wrong with this mouthpiece. Oh, it is LOUD!

Comments about Rico Metalite Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I have a M5 Metalite with a #3 med reed and my sax really sings. You can't over blow on it. Don't hold back with it. You will find new things with your sound. Let her rip from the gut.

Killer Rock/Jazz solo tool

By

Comments about Rico Metalite Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

OK, it's not useful to just say you like a tool, you need to describe why you like it, and where to use it. This is a loud, midrange boosting, power mouthpiece. It has a shallow ramp with a steep drop off. It jumps to altissimo easy in the low range, in fact I have to use care to keep my notes low. It's ideal for hard rock like punk. Or hard jazz as in Coltrane. Play a solo with this at a dinner jazz gig and you'll be fired before you finish your second solo. It will certainly give you a standard by which you may judge more expensive jazz mouthpieces.

Very fun mouthpiece!

Comments about Rico Metalite Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I got this mouthpiece for playing tenor in the second jazz band at my highschool (I'm using the bari sax one for the first jazz band) and i love the edge it has. Not a good mouthpiece for anything classical (get the graftonite for that) but it is perfect for a big band sound or rock. It's loud and It is a very free blowing mouthpice that really can almost take anything you give it. It would be great for out door shows.

Great projection

Comments about Rico Metalite Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece:

If you are looking for volume and edge, without breaking the bank, look no more! I own a Graftonite C7 and a Metalite C9. The Graftonite is also great, but does not give the volume and edge of the Metalite. I use the Metalite for rock and everything else that I want to be loud. The Graftonite is nice for funerals, weddings, Christmas parties, and coctail hours. I can't get all of the altissimo notes out but that may be a problem with me or my horn.
