Rovner Dark Bb Clarinet Ligature and CapRovner Ligatures greatly improve reed playability. Reeds that are totally unplayable on other ligatures will often perform well with the Rovner. The ability of the Rovner Ligature to extend reed life is unparalleled. More rigid ligatures actually hammer the cane fibers during vibration, eventually destroying the reed's tonal vibrancy. Not so with Rovner; most players find their reeds will play until the tips finally succumb to fatigue and fall apart!

This piece was a change for the better. All of a sudden, my tone became a lot more focused and more controlled, and it became much warmer and less piercing. Great for classical and ensemble work. Even with jazz, it allows for a great deal of flexibility. In addition, the single screw mechanism makes for easy and fairly precise adjustments, and is particularly handy when holding music, a chair, a stand, and trying to fit a clarinet (while adjusting it), 30 seconds before curtain goes up (believe me, it's happened to me before).
I tried out the Rovner dark lig about two years ago when a friend recommended them to me. Wow! Immediately my tone got a lot warmer; less reedy. Not only is it easier to get a good tone both on sax and clarinet but you get less squeeking and you can really reach those low sub tones, especially on tenor. I use Rovner ligs, Russeau mouthpieces, and Vandoren reeds on all my horns, and people are always impressed with the mellow tones they produce. These ligs make switching from jazz to classical a lot easier, too- no need for a seperate jazz ligature and mouthpiece here. Overall, a highly flexible ligature.
I bought a Rovner Dark-3R ligature a few months ago, and WOW, has this product changed my playing. This ligature has given me a nice, focused, dark tone, perfect for Concert Band. Don't get me wrong though, this is a great ligature for Jazz/Funk groups as well. I will never use metal ligatures again!
this ligature is good unless you have the right reed i have noticed softer reeds are not good for this thicker are but if you haven't fully developed your embouchure then this is not a good ligature for you
My band teacher decided to purchase six of these for the marching band clarinet section. They are good with responce but when you march around they are not good. If this is for concerts or jazz use it if not don't.
