The Best Flugelhorn I Have Played

Comments about Schilke 1040 FL Custom Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I've played many flugelhorns in my 57 yrs., Benge 3 and 5, Besson Brevette, Bach, Getzen as well as several entry level horns. The Schilke 1040-FLS is by far my favorite yet. The sound is rich and the intonation is very, very good. Build quality is of course first-rate as is with all my other Schilke trumpets (8 to be exact). Included is 2 mouthpipes for any FL mouthpiece taper. Although I had to wait ~8 months for mine, it was worth it. I bought mine having never seen nor played one, so it was a leap of faith. If you get the opportunity to play one, you will probably go home with one...it's that good.

A Most Impressive Flugelhorn!

Comments about Schilke 1040 FL Custom Series Bb Flugelhorn:

As a professional jazz musician, I have attended NAMM shows for many years and make a point to play just about everything out there. I recently read several rave reviews on this horn and bought it from WWBW just to try for 45 days... thinking I would probably send it back. Wow! In all candor, this new Schilke is the most comfortable, in tune and rich sounding flugelhorn I have ever played. I own a beautiful Bach Stradivarius 183 and a Yamaha Bobby Shew YFH-8310Z, but neither of these fine horns come close to the deep, full, sonorous qualities of the Schilke. Making music on this superb instrument is next to effortless. I'm so absolutely impressed with this new Schilke that I just put my other two flugelhorns up for sale. The ease of playing the Schilke is truly unique and the fit, finish and workmanship is impeccable. Be careful on this one -- if you try it, you'll probably own it.
