I purchased the 10 reed case for bass clarinet this summer. I always had problems with keeping my reeds from warping; but now with the Selmer case, my reeds are never warped. I double Bb and Bass, and both size reeds fit on the glass easily. It may be advisable to periodically remove all the reeds from the case and clean the glass with a paper towel and alcohol to make sure that the glass has no build-up (from saliva, I suppose?) on it. Overall, 5 stars are well deserved.
I ordered one of these, and almost immediately the hinge broke and I had to return it. I got another, had it for about a year, and then it would no longer close; the glass shifted and the clasp would not work; I had to use a rubber band to keep it closed. I finally ordered a different brand; we'll see how it goes.
The Selmer Reed Case is probably the best accessory I have ever purchased for my clarinet. I have always just used either the paper or plastic individual storage containers that came with the reeds. I have always had trouble with the reeds warping or not being dried out enough to play again after a few hours. I bought the Selmer case which holds five reeds. After playing in the church orchestra in the morning service, I now put my reed in the new case. Five hours later the reed is dry and in perfect condition to play for choir practice and evening worship service. I can't believe I hadn't purchased this case before. I use to throw my reeds away after morning service because they were not fit to play in the evening. This case is truly a money saver.
I haven't broken a single reed since I got this case, about four months ago. They advertise that it holds ten reeds, but I have 14 in mine. It is a little bit big to fit inside my clarinet case, but I just carry it outside with sheet music and other things. This reed case is well worth the money, and is a great investment!
The case is sturdy and extremely good at its job - my reeds stay in place, never warp, and it can hold lots (more than ten if I'm conservative) of reeds. However, (this may be due to the fact I live in a hot and humid place like Singapore) the outside cover falls apart very easily, even if you leave it alone. And it even started to do so the day I got it. Other than this con, this case is all pros.
