I was given a bottle of Ultra Pure 5 years ago at Dave Monette's shop. It sat in my drawer for about 6 months; I did not want to wash all of my horns to try out a new oil when I had no problem with the Al Cass oil I was using. Then my son started having problems with his B&S Challenger. The valves would stick occasionally (once a week) requiring a complete cleaning of the horn and re-oiling. I decided to give Ultra Pure a try. I could not believe the difference. The B&S valves were better than my Bach 37 and my Yamaha Flugelhorn (Nickel Plated Valves). I changed all of my horns over to Ultra Pure and I am amazed at how well all of my valves work and how little oil I use. I can get away with oiling 1 to 2 times per week. The way I tell when I need to oil is when the valves feel like they have been oiled with standard oil. I don't want to ping on Al Cass because their product is very highly recommended and I had used it for years. To summarize; you will have to completely clean your valves to try this oil, but once you do, I bet that you will never turn back.

I always used blue juice but it wasn't juuuust right; Ultra Pure slide grease worked, so I tried the valve oil. Pretty soon gunk was building up on the valves, slowing them down a lot, and the third valve was hardly usable at all; so I'm back on blue juice. I play one of those Bach New York #7 Strads that they made for a little while, so I wouldn't suggest this oil for those horns.

Comments about Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil:

Ultra Pure is the only valve oil that I use now for my trumpets after having undesirable results with other oils (Hetman, Blue Juice, etc.). I have used it on Yamaha and Schilke trumpets to get fast valves that need oiling about once a week for optimal speed. One bottle lasts over a year. It doesn't leave dark residue or stains like cheaper oils, it doesn't smell, and you don't have to reapply it constantly. Highly recommended.

Comments about Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil:

I cleaned both my Bb and C trumpets and applied the oil as directed at their website. Fantastic results. The last time I can remember my valves was with the old yellow Holton oil. So far, great!

              What I've ALWAYS NEEDED

Comments about Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil:

Used Al Cass (Fast)since 1964. Tried "Slick Stuff, "Selmer" etc. but stayed w Cass as being the best for me, though not ideal. Seems its didn't mix well with my saliva on a long gig, so I'd have to clean valves dry between sets, and sometimes toward the end of a 45minute set, it would start to get a little gummy, both Bb Schilke and Benge Fluegle. Used this Oil first time after coming home from 3 week vacation. Haven't re- oiled for 10Days! and it's still PERFECT, and my saliva's still the same as it's always been. Synthetic wins the race -- wish I'd discovered this years ago. JPH

I'm a horn player and this is by far the best oil I used! My valves work very smooth and fast. Will be buying again for my trumpet.

Comments about Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil:

I have tried most valve oils on my trumpets/cornets. I've been using Ultra-Pure for 3 years. I apply oil once a week, not because valves are sticky, but just because I think I should out of guilt. Valves NEVER stick anymore!

Comments about Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil:

At first when my band director recommended this oil to use on my new pro model trumpet, I was hesitant to switch. After I used it though I was amazed! The oil didn't leave any of the gunky stuff the other oils had left behind and it worked amazingly well! I also didn't have to use as much when I oiled! I am in love with the entire pure-oils collection and will keep using it!

This valve oil is amazing. It works consistently and has never failed. It leaves zero residue. I use it for my trumpet and a school euphonium; it has worked wonders.

Comments about Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil:

I have been using Ultra Pure on my trumpet and flugelhorn for over 1 year now. Previously, I used Hetman. Both are equally outstanding. The only difference is that Hetman becomes discolored over time, turning from clear into a yellow color. I'm not sure if that really matters, but Ultra Pure does not discolor over time. Ultra Pure lasts for a long time on the valves, provides smooth action, and does not leave nasty residue like petroleum-based oils do. Also, if my valves start having issues in the middle of a session, I just add a few drops of UP and everything is fine for the rest of the day. This "just add more oil for a quick fix" thing doesn't work with petroleum-based oils usually, it just adds more mess to the valves. UP is an oil I can depend on. I don't worry about my valves anymore. Try it. If you want to get picky, try Hetman too. You won't be disappointed with either one.
