These reeds are amazing! I have used them for about 2 years now and they give a great, full sound which is very important. They may be a little pricey for just average musicians, but they are definitely worth the price. I use these reeds, my teacher uses them, and I know many other very good musicians that would use nothing but Vandoren reeds. If you want quality reeds, go for these!!
I have used this brand of read for about 7 years, I use it with the Selmer C * mouthpiece, with a Selmer Artist Limited Tenor Sax (Great full sound). This read is easy to control and easy to learn to control I have used just about everything ever plastic nothing gives me the sound that I want but this read. Great buy best read on the market Guaranteed.
I've been playing professionally all over the world for over 40 years and I've always come back to these standard Vandoren #4's. As all reed players, my complaints differ from venue to venue depending on the humidity etc. But, these reeds deliver and are dependable. I recently noticed I only had 1 reed left and I'd been playing it for several months. I ordered another box of the several types Vandoren has out there. After going through the whole box - I trashed them and went back to my funky old one and ordered new basic Vandoren's. North - South - East Coast - West Coast - Vegas desert etc. They can be counted on.
I found out that this is a great reed On an every day gig they last longer than the other cuts because they have a thicker heart. The thinner tip help easing the articulations. The sound is beautifull and centered I use them for popular music with excelent results (with a Ponzol M2 Stainless Steel 110 mouthpiece), althought I know they where designed for Classical
These reeds are so good I?ve started taking them for granted. I just saw the review and realized how great these reeds are. The musicality I am able to get on these is just amazing. Of course they go great with the Selmer C* mouth piece. I use a YTS-62 Tenor saxophone, and the combination just really is amazing. If you play in a concert band or perform classical music these are definitely the reeds for you! They are obviously not great for jazz, especially with a C*. I use the Java reeds for jazz and they are great too.
