The mouthpiece overall is great. It produces a dark, rich, sound and is easy to play. On this mouthpiece I can hit every note with ease, even Altissimo, and at every dynamic. The sound is full and stable and just sounds great... What a great find... O it looks pretty good too.
I play an A17 and I love it. Its reed friendly, playable in every register, easy to control, great intonation (you wouldn't think a mouthpiece would influence that, but it definitely does,) and it's playable in all dynamics. I have no idea how people continue to play the C* mouthpiece or any other mouthpiece by Selmer with all of the fantastic mouthpieces made by Vandoren. I have yet to try a Vandoren I don't like or that doesn't respond. And, since Vandoren makes the classical reeds I use, the mouthpieces are cut for a perfect fit with the reeds. You couldn't ask for a bigger blessing. Every reed plays wonderfully. I usually play a 3 1/2 reed, but this piece can even handle a 4 with no difficulty. It plays a bit differently than Selmer?s and at first is a little more difficult to control in the altissimo register, however after a few minutes of initial tinkering, you will increase your range by a minor third and the clarity is incredible.
