Choose from the folowing Yamaha Warranties:
This mouthpiece was great for playing lead in a big band and only took a couple weeks to get used to after switching from the bobby shew jazz. the rim is really thin though so while it only took a couple minutes to warm up, I wasn't able to play high for more than an hour straight at a time.
It took a few weeks to get used to but now i play it in concert and jazz band. Great overall mouthpiece. If you need to pedal tone(extreme low range) its not for you but low F# and up it does amazing.
I tried all the other Yamaha mouthpieces in the same size range as the Bobby Shew Jazz, but this mouthpiece remains more comfortable, versatile, and helps me create a nice, dark, rich tone on my trumpet for jazz. I also practice my "legit" practice pieces with it, too, and it still sounds and feels great. I've actually switched over to this mouthpiece for all my trumpets and the Bobby Shew flugelhorn mouthpiece as well, which is now my favorite as well.
This mouthpiece has a great lead tone quality and an amazing brilliance to it. The reason why i give two stars is because i received this mouthpiece and was fairly annoyed when i simply went for a high c and i had to push way too hard for it. My airflow gets cut off if i go too high and play too loud. I've let my friends use it and they tell me the same thing. Maybe i got a dud but just keep this in mind before buying
Ive been playing trumpet for 15 yrs...been on alot of mouthpieces from bach 1c,3c and 10.5c,schilke 6a4a,15b,14b,18,yamaha bs jazz,14a4a, handful of monettes...if you want a all around mouthpiece this is it....well as long as you been playing for awhile knowing how to drop your jaw have a open air way and use your abs you can get a beautful/fat sound for clasical/concert band then stand up and peel the paint off the wall with some jazz/open/bright sound and slam some double Gs and As.....also great for lead trumpet in drum and bugel corps...as far as playing high notes if you play as much as i do you can play 4 hour gigs without a problem
