I own this instrument, my dad bought it for me when i was going in to 8th, and it has saved me well all the way through my senior year. This saxophone is by far the best student saxophone on the market; I could sing praises about it all day. If you are someone looking for a horn for a student look no further this is the perfect choice but the only draw back from it is the lack of a high F# key besides that this instrument is amazing, and will last your student all the way through there school band career.

"Pretty Good Horn"

I own the YAS-23 alto saxophone and used it as my student horn. I would have to say it is the easiest saxophone to start without of the student horns. I have played and reviewed student horns from other brands, and this saxophone blows all the other student horns away. My YAS-23 has pretty good action, and is pretty adjustable for all types of music. I won?t harp around on the sound because it?s the player behind the horn producing the tone, but as I stated earlier it?s very easily taken from a round concert sound to and edgy jazz sound with some practice. I still use this horn, but am currently saving to purchase a YAS-82zUL. However, I am in no hurry because this horn has served and continues to server me well.

"Excellent Instrument"

Our school owns twenty of these for beginning band (4th through 6th grade). An excellent, solid instrument and a real workhorse. Plywood cases will stack to the ceiling for the summer with no ill effect. All parts are interchangeable. In my experience, the case will become unsightly due to the vinyl covering ripping and coming off long before the sax is dead. Expect to get ten years out of these instruments.

I like this sax due to its durability and its playability. The keys flow freely, not a lot of tension to push them down. Comfortable holding. The low C and middle D keys are hard to play, but that may just be my instrument. This has lasted from 5th grade through my senior year. Its tone is more than satisfactory if you as a player can get that tone. I feel it's in between a beginner and an intermediate horn.

I started playing sax on this instrument. I still use it and enjoy it a lot. If you want to play sax and are looking for a good instrument, this is a great sax to carry you for years. Hey, mine works great after five years!
