I recently got a Berg Larsen (110/2 SMS) The sound quality is superb for such a skinny Mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has a beautiful Low register thanks to the long and large Chamber. The upper cut is great with the "Round" sounding baffle. I love this mouthpiece for my big band, the only small problem which is inherit with the skinny chamber is that if this is your first METAL mouthpiece your upper edge will sound a bit thin. But soon afterwards your sound will be amazing. This is an amazing mouthpiece!!!
I just got my Berg Larsen mouthpiece about a week ago and already I can see the major positives in the quality of it. The tone of my particular model, (110/0), is very bright and edgy. This mouthpiece has dramatically increased the quality of my solos and all around playing. The upper register offers clear and piercing playing, while the lower register delivers a deep, beefy sound that is oh so satisfying to use in my solos. The only problem I have encountered so far in playing with this mouthpiece is the fact that the middle register seems to be somewhat foggy and certain notes like middle A and B seem to want to jump up an auctive quite frequently. In addition, the "ugly" notes on the bari, such as the D, which are usually out of tune are slightly more out of tune on this mouthpiece. However, these occurences are most likely results of my low reed choice and the fact that I haven't had enough time to fully adjust to this mouthpiece. All in all, an excellent choice for any jazz, bebop soloist looking for a brighter sound. I can see why so many great bari players, like Pepper Adams, have chosen this mouthpiece.
This mouthpiece is superb. I play it in Jazz band and marching band as well. I ordered a 110/0 and it sounds great! The low register comes out really well and I get an edgy, cutting sound out of this mouthpiece. The tone is excellent and I have heard from others in my band that I sound a lot more crisp and strong. Overall, this is a very good mouthpiece and I would recommend it for any intermediate or advanced sax player!
