Comments about Protec Deluxe Bass Trombone Gig Bag:

Deep enough to accommodate a Bach Mdl 50 Double Thayer valve bass trombone, but just long enough for it - probably too short for bass trombones with valve section tubing that extends well beyond the main tuning slide.
The construction is flexible which is a worry if the case comes under sideways pressure. It is sturdy but not not reinforced with rigid panels.

Protec Bass Trombone Gig Bag; worthy of Protec name?

Comments about Protec Deluxe Bass Trombone Gig Bag:

I have been a real fan of Protec products over the years. I have a Protec Euphonium Gig bag, a Protec MAX tenor trombone case, Protec mouthpiece pouches, Protec music bag, and a Protec mute bag. I have been very pleased with all these products. The Bass trombone gig bag is somewhat of a disappointment. I don't like the slide pocket being outside the bag, and I don't feel like the bag overall provides enough protection. It is very light weight, which is appreciated, but I feel it could sacrifice some weight for better protection. I ordered the optional Backpack straps, and they are disappointing as well. The main harness connection is too far down on the bag, and doesn't allow for good balance of the weight on your back. The description of the bag says it will fit bells up to 10.5". There is no way this is true. My Getzen 1052FD has a 9.5" bell, and it is a tight fit. There's no way a 10.5" bell horn will fit in this bag.

Pro Tec Delux Bass Bone Gig Bag

Comments about Protec Deluxe Bass Trombone Gig Bag:

I recently bought the Pro Tec Delux Bass Bag and am quite pleased with it. It is light weight, compact and offers a good degree of protection (for a gig bag), The bag is well constructed of quality materials and has a large outside compartment for mouthpieces, sprays, lubes etc. I bought the bag for my Getzen 1062 double rotor bass trombone with 9.5 inch bell and the fit is pretty tight. I expect it to loosen up with a little use. If you have a bell larger than 9.5 inches it will not fit this case. Overall, a good case for a fair price.
