I am absolutely in love with this case. Before I got my bell cut, I had a Protec fixed bell case, and it was extremely bulky. I had to check it into baggage when I flew, and it was a bother even to carry it around with the backpack straps. It had a nice big pocket in front, which was nice, but it was simply too big. I finally got my Holton converted to a detachable bell horn, and got a ProPac, which was a behemoth. Absolutely humongous, and completely defeats the purpose of a cut bell. It had lots of room for music, but also WAY too much superfluous material on the interior. The iPac, however-- the case you are viewing now-- is perfect in every way. I disagree with the review previous to mine; my Holton fits perfectly with no problems, and the case is not at all heavy. It's just like carrying around your average backpack. Not much room for music, but I switched all of my music into a 10-cent paper folder from Staples, and it works like a charm. My spiral manuscript notebook for lessons fits in there like a charm as well. Perfect for the college hornist, in every way you can imagine. Excellent case; nothing to complain about. Awesome.
Extremely well made case. It's tight and compact, a little heavy for its size but very tough. Unfortunately, my Holton didn't fit - the case would not close. I'm told other brands are "flatter" than Holtons (the tuning slides are at a slight angle to the horn's tail). I pulled the padding out of the peak of the "bell" side of the case, and cut the end of the bell-cozy, which allowed the horn a tight fit. However, after a few months the horn developed a buzz due to a loose solder joint. I suspect the problem was caused from the tight-fitting case which put too much pressure on the tuning slides. If my horn fit in the case without modification I would give it 5 stars, no question.
