I really like my SR Tech Fusion. Mine is the size .108 and I play it with a Fibracell 2.5. on my Yanagasawa T-990 Gold Lacquer Tenor. This setup has won me many fine compliments on R&B, Blues, Rock, Fusion scenes as fellow tenormen always ask me how I get my sound. The high baffle adds the cutting crispness I need to get through that friggin' guitar on volume 10, yet the big chamber keeps the sound big and fat. Back to the Fusion...One thing I like is that this MPC stays in tune very well with little effort all the way up and down the horn and all notes speak easily. The fusion is also easy on the embouchure as it is comfortable and not too steeply sloped nor too thinly sloped. Every item in my setup that I discussed in this review I purchased from WWBW, sax, reeds, MPCs everything. THANK YOU WWBW!!!!!!
I play in a very busy function band and teach music in a public school. Like other pro's I work with, we use different mouthpieces for different purposes. The SR Fusion TF3100 works for me when playing pop, r&b and traditional jazz. Pitch center is great and the tone has a full body. Playing altissimo has never been easier. I went with a stiffer Rico Jazz reed that broke in nicely. I would recommend this for someone who wants to break into similar style of playing that has been used to playing on hard rubber all their lives. I'm playing this on a Cannonball Hot Spur and getting a huge sound.
This is a great mouthpiece. I play in a rock/funk band, and needed something that would let me compete with loud electric guitars and bass, more so than my Otto Link. I demoed at least 5 other brands, and this one just stood out above the rest. It has great projection, clean and well-rounded sound, and is really comfortable to play. I should knock off a star for being so expensive... but I actually think it was worth the extra bucks. The company appears to have good quality control, and uses high quality materials.
This is an excellent mouthpiece if you need power, projection, and ease of altissimo. It is very comfortable to play as well as easy blowing. I have tried many mouthpieces, and this is probably one of the best "mass produced" mouthpieces that you will buy. I believe that every one has its own serial number on it, which means the quality control is probably very good. It plays very well with a Rico Jazz select 2 hard, at least for me; no need to use a super hard reed with this baby. I purchased the .115 opening. Check it out, I think you will like it allot!!
I have try Guardala Superking and studio even a Ponzol or Vandoren metal V16 many HR mouthpieces too, but this is for my opinion one of the BEST METAL ALL AROUND MOUTPIECES!!!
